Milk and Snoring

The sound heard on the passage of air through a partly blocked airway, is known as snoring. It occurs due to various different reasons. The main reasons are obesity, alcohol and sometimes by dairy products. If you are snorer, knowing the cause can help you obtain the cure. Not many are aware that dairy products can lead to snoring. In fact, any item using cow’s milk causes snoring. Cow’s milk causes higher mucus production in many people that can lead to various respiratory problems. If you snore try to limit or eliminate dairy products from your diet to note if it has an impact on your snoring.

If dairy products affect your mucus production it means you have some milk intolerance. When you are awake, you can eliminate extra mucus from your body by sneezing and blowing your nose. But when you are asleep the mucus remains within the mucus membranes, especially the nose and upper throat. This increase in your upper throat causes snoring as it creates blockage.

Many people feast on dairy products like cheese or drink a glass of milk just before sleeping. As a result, mucus production is higher in those people suffering from intolerance. Eliminating dairy can deal with your snoring problem. You will have to make up for vitamins and nutrients that you would have otherwise obtained from dairy. Also remember that eliminating dairy from your diet will not immediately reduce your snoring. It may require about a month to observe any effects.

Consult your doctor in case you suffer from snoring problem to eliminate serious conditions like sleep apnea. If you aim to limit or eliminate dairy, talk to a nutritionist about calcium and other vitamins obtained from dairy. Soy milk is an excellent alternative for those wanting to give up dairy from their diet.
