Stop Snoring Naturally

Though snoring is not normally regarded as a serious problem, your spouse may not agree to it as they have to suffer from disruptions in their sleep due to your loud snoring noises. If you fail to solve the problem, very soon your partner may sleep separately.

What is snoring, and how can you stop it naturally?
Snoring are the sounds emanating from a sleeper whose airway passage is partly blocked by the meeting of the tongue or palate above the airway, forcing the sleeper to breathe harder, that can lead to snoring.

Some ways to stop snoring:

1. Always sleep on your side. When you sleep on your back, the relaxed tongue can fall back and partly block the air passage. In this situation, just a change of sleeping position will sort the problem.

2. Keep your weight in check. Overweight people have bigger fatty tissues in the mouth/throat area. This narrows the breathing passageway that can lead to snoring. Exercise and shed some weight.

3. Reduce or give up smoking. Cigar and cigarette smoke can inflame the mucous lining of your throat.

4. Alcohol or drugs can relax the muscles of the throat and tongue and go back into the narrow air passageway, leading to snoring. Hence if you’re a drinker, don’t drink alcohol before sleeping.

5. Allergies or colds can cause stuffy nose. A stuffed nose would cause obstruction of your breathing airway. If your nose is congested, the membranes within your nasal cavities swell and the mucous lining the inside walls of your nose would increase. Less air can enter the passageway; hence more air is required to be inhaled through the mouth. Use a steamer containing Vicks VapoRub, or in case of a temporary cold, nasal strips can solve the problem.

This shows there are various factors responsible for snoring. Many of them can be easily dealt with by adopting a well chalked out plan to halt snoring naturally.
