Snore Mouth Guard

Mouth guard is also called mandibular sleeping device. These mouth guards are made by dentists to suit the person’s jaws and mouth. These guards are fitted to the person and can not be got in a nearby pharmacy or medical store.

Working of mouth guard:
Sometimes tongue rests on the back of the throat and nose. Since the tongue is longer it happens so and the other reason is the position in which the person sleeps too. When your lower jaw is smaller than upper jaw this easily happens and the tongue easily relaxes. The mouth guard therefore prevents from such things happening and the lower jaw is a bit forward and therefore it doesn’t open and rests back.

Though using it looks uncomfortable, it never happens as the dentist fixes it depending on the jaw of different people. It weighs very less and pushes the jaw forward.

These mouth guards need to carefully handles as they should not be bent or broken. Proper testing should be done to confirm that it’s the lower jaw that’s causing the snoring. Sometimes you may be misleading that it’s the tongue that is causing the snoring but it might be the excess tissue on your soft palate. The muscles and tissue in the area causes disturbance for the airway. Therefore minor surgeries to remove the unwanted tissues can provide some relief. This is usually done using laser treatment.
